Established in 2012, Grace Co-op started when Laura Richmond and Nici Smith decided to try a new model of education, combining private, traditional classroom education with home education. They hired a teacher and started with 7 kids. Over the past five years, the school has grown to 24 children in grades K-5.
In 2015, Grace Co-op changed it’s name to Grace Preparatory Academy of Boston and joined with the University Model Schools International to start the process to become a fully functioning University Model® school. Grace Preparatory Academy is not formally considered a private school by the state of Massachusetts, but is still defined as a tutorial service to homeschoolers. The hope and desire is to make Grace Preparatory Academy considered a private school in the near future.
